Planning a trip often means juggling multiple sites, comparing prices, and sifting through endless options—leading to wasted time, missed deals, and decision fatigue.
Herssa, our AI-driven travel booking assistant, leverages machine learning and real-time data to swiftly create tailored itineraries. It simplifies travel planning, enabling users to concentrate on their journey rather than the logistics. This case study will explore my design process, including research and the creation of this hands-free booking application.
Problem Statement-How can we use AI as a primary method for booking travel for customers who are in a rush or have a hectic schedule?
Challenge
Develop an AI-exclusive booking application that is connected to the primary booking site.
Goal
-Discover easier methods to introduce Herssa AI, making it feel more personal for the user.
-Limit interaction on the main page and redirect to the main site whenever possible.
-Focus the application primarily on key features such as flights and hotels.
Why is this important?
The AI travel companion, Herssa, is designed to aid experienced travelers who have destinations in mind. When you know your route and method of travel, efficiency is crucial.
Whether it's for work or visiting family, Herssa helps by reminding travelers and commuters of upcoming tasks, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple apps to discover changes or missing or expired paperwork.

To gain an understanding of the primary booking market, I conducted a Competitive Analysis to see how other travel companies were adopting or using this.
I found that although the AI booking system is used in certain areas on other platforms, it has never been the primary method for making reservations. Users were required to have their trips planned in advance and could then adjust them with the AI tool.

Collaborating with a travel-focused Chat GPT posed some challenges. Identifying which features are familiar to travelers and determining what additional inputs can enhance Herssa's functionality is crucial. Public skepticism often surrounds AI chats due to concerns about security and potential errors.
Nevertheless, by maintaining a singular focus on travel and staying within the realm of accommodation, many of these concerns can be alleviated. This is because Herssa is integrated with the main website for Hermex Travels, and users of this app have to be Hermex members, serving as a complementary tool for those not merely browsing for their next leisure trip.

To facilitate easy access to flight booking, certain information needed to be entered during sign-up, including passport and identification details. A document library was eventually added to enable various modifications to documentation, such as:
disability verification,
service animal documentation,
doctor's notes,
business travel verifications, etc.
Anything that simplifies quick travel while ensuring travelers can easily reproduce their paperwork without the risk of it being lost is beneficial. Ensuring that security measures are established early in the sign-in process and can be accessed by the user is crucial. Paperwork can be easily stolen or misplaced and replacing it can be a lengthy process without some form of verification, such as a photocopy.

Whether users access the main app or the website for Hermex Travels, their profile information can be seamlessly used across both platforms. Future updates will integrate all Hermex Travels interfaces through the user profile, making it simple for users to update their information. This will ensure that the information remains secure for use on various platforms in the future.
Additionally, it will address the challenge of coordinating travel and expenses by tailoring the use of each interface to the traveler's level of experience and group size.

Key take Aways
If I was not using UX Pilot Ai this project would have taken much longer than needed to create. Since this is a new type of Ai chat the concept from my stand point as a designer was foreign but futuristic an took much more adaption on my part to make Herssa easy to understand not just for me but for our audience as well.
Areas that I struggled but found solutions to :
If you encounter problems with padding and spacing in your design, consider using two frames instead of one. For instance, create a smaller frame and apply auto-layout to align all elements. Then, place it over the designated size you are using for the application.
Deadlines can come at any speed, and using your design process as a guide will help set the tone for strategy and expectation.
Be adaptable. The output can always change when users begin interacting with your interface.
Next steps:
Collect input from users after the launch
Make adjustments to development when needed
